Brace yourselves! This is going to be one very boring blog post! Feel free to skip this post, unless you want to poke fun at my nerdiness. Actually, if you go grab a snack by the time you get back, I should be done and then you will be spared my detailed ramblings. See you in a few...
I wanted to make a note for myself on how we were watering from the bottom because I kept forgetting and doing it in the wrong order and forgetting the simple way I did it the day before. So I decided I would make a post about it so I can save myself a few headaches next time.
Start with pouring water into the bottoms of the trays. (This is the truly brilliant part!)
Set a timer for 15 minutes. This part is not only brilliant, but crucial. It is also the part I most often forget getting distracted by something or other from the brief moment after setting the pitcher down and starting the timer. It doesn't take much.
After the timer goes off or whenever I realize I forgot to start the timer and left the poor plants standing in water or whichever comes first, put an empty long tray on a handy nearby surface. Then get one of the trays of plants and set it nearby.
Transfer the plants into the empty tray in the same order, if they are placed in order of height for the sake of the lights being slanted so as to be as close to the tops of the plants as possible
.
Please pay no attention to the fearsome claws sneaking up on the unsuspecting baby pepper plants. No pepper plants were harmed in the writing of this post!
Place the plants in their tray back on the shelf, dump out the water left in the now empty tray and get another tray of plants standing in water.
Repeat the process.
Simple. Effective. Easy peasy!
If you've got a better way, please share it with me!
